Re: 1972 R60/5 Won’t Start
Your original description of the issue made me think of a loose/dirty battery cable at the battery. Might give that a clean while your in there. Had a truck that would make one click and then no power anywhere. Twist the battery cable connector on the battery and back to life. The cable would essent...

Re: Oil filter filling
I'm not real familiar with the oil system on my R75. But I think the filter is the last thing in the line before the oil just falls into the pan. So the oil is pumping through the engine as normal. After reading the link below, the filter is not the last in line for the oil. When I have looked into ...

Re: 1976 R90/6 questions
As mentioned, it depends on where the carb is leaking from. I had a float bowl that was leaking from the tube that is soldered or whatever into the bowl. Read about that somewhere and sure enough it was that letting gas get on my boot. New bowl solved my problem.

Re: New member
Why is it missing the vin plate?? Maybe you can get a blank one and stamp your info into it? As long as you don't alter anything on the plate, should be legal to change it. Otherwise, there must be a way, probably with the proper form in hand, to go to the police and have them verify the bike is not...

Re: Lighting Upgrade Questions
On my '70's bikes I changed out the tail/brake light with LEDs. 1157 type bulb. Much brighter than a regular 1157. On my '07 HD, I made the rear turn signals work as brake and tail with a module that plugs into the tail light wiring harness. Added LED to the turn signals. All went fine until I added...

Re: ´strange´running problem?
As mentioned, check the basics. Just a thought, if it has a fuel filter on the petcocks or elsewhere, it could be clogged. Had a bike that would cut out at freeway speeds after a bit. Add on VW type fuel filter looked clean, but was for whatever reason not allowing enough fuel to flow. If I stopped ...

Re: Rear drum camshaft
Question about the cam lobes. I seem to remember a manual saying that there is a "this side up" for the actual cam that the brake shoes sit on.

Re: Parts sourcing - Top-End Rebuild?
I don't know if this will help. On my /5 with new push rod tube rubbers, the cylinder was held way out like yours. At the time I didn't know that the ring on the push rod tube was adjustable, it could very firmly slide on the tube. Slid it back, installed cylinder and then carefully tapped the ring ...

Re: Oil in brake hub
If the oil looks like it's coming from the pivoting shaft, it probably is. The pivoting shaft is easy enough to remove. Wheel off, remove brake shoes, remove rod from brake pedal at the lever, remove lever and slide pivot out. No rear drive disassembly needed. Look through the hole for the pivoting ...
