Putting a spoked R100R front wheel on a R100GS

Howdy everyone, I have a 18" K-bike front mag wheel I've used occasionally on the front of my R100GS. Makes it a quicker more fun street/twistie bike. I have to shim the brake caliper closer to the wheel to get the brake rotor to be centered in the caliper, but otherwise it is an easy swap. I r...

New front Brake rotor for my '92 R100GS?

Hi All, the rotor is down to 4.10 mm. Think it's time for a new one. Suggestions? I'm running what I think is the original stock BMW unit, it has about 100K miles on it.

Re: R100GS turn signal stays on (without blinking)

Thanks Airbear.

The turnsignal controller on the post- 90 or 91 bikes is WAYYYYY different than the /7, or any airhead before. It's a 15 pin unit that is the same as the K-bikes.

Re: R100GS turn signal stays on (without blinking)- UPDATE-

Hi All, I tried my unit on a friend's bike and confirmed the part was bad. So, with nothing to lose, I took it apart. Turns out there is just some rubber like sealant on the bottom, which can be removed. When I looked at the "guts" it was obvious that one of the relays had a broken spade. ...

Re: R100GS turn signal stays on (without blinking)

Thanks guys. I saw that the night this happened. I found one from a dealer discounted to about $100 which might be a better risk/reward decision. Also, Kisan sells a unit for the K bikes, which I think will work, that has auto turn off (good for an old guy like me) and maybe an option for 4 way flas...

Re: R100GS turn signal stays on (without blinking)

Thanks Rob, good point. Not much else in my life that works well for 22+ years, 100K miles, and then fails gently.

I'll try taking it apart without wrecking it. I found a buddy with a spare so I can A/B test it.

Re: R100GS turn signal stays on (without blinking)

Update- I pulled the electronic module that seems to control the turn signal switches, and the lamp went off. Will try to find a nearby bike to swap parts for a minute and see if my module is bad. If it is- $100+ ... bummer...

R100GS turn signal stays on (without blinking)

Hi All, My '92 R100GS is doing weird things, turn-signal wise. First turn this morning, the right signal worked fine. Next turn, the left signal didn't work at all. A minute later, the left signal lights (front, rear, and indicator) were all full on (no blinking) and I can't turn them off ('cept tur...

Re: Siebenrock 800cc to 1000cc kit, is it really worth it?

I've swapped between 800cc and 1000cc several times on my previous R80ST. Just used stock BMW 1000cc jugs, pistons, and heads. Dead simple, don't even need to adjust jetting on the same carbs. The 1000cc engine had more power and more vibration. The 800cc engine was so smooth, I went back to it. Dep...
