Hah.
You all thought I was dead.
Nope.
Had a runaway TDI and have been wrenching 4-wheels for awhile.

Timkil, go to a VW supply shop with your banjo bolt. Say, "help".
They will have what you need.

Re: r100rt shock mount
uh-huh.
SIGNIFICANT something, anyhow.
Maybe those other parts got changed-out and PO thought this wouldn't be noticable...until the check cleared?

"Last point" I agree, Sprints.
Yes, I know Mikuni makes a bunch of different sizes but as stated by sprints, the tuning possibilities are close to infinite, and I'd rather ride.

I'd be worried about MORE than the shock mount if it hit that hard.
Swing-arm, driveshaft comes to mind first.

I think the Dells would be oversize for the R60...about the same way Bing 40s are a bit oversize for the R100s for casual riding.
Why don't we have Bing 36s?

Re: Rockers the same?
A shop that sells stuff for VW's sought to be able to fix you up with a brake line,
I did that to the R65 when I changed the handlebars...needed a longer one and VW parts were the ticket.

Re: odd tank fitting issue.
I vote for differences in the both the frames AND the tanks, especially based on the time of manufacture.
If metal-on-metal troubles you, put a little pad of old innertube where the metal touches. OR leather.
Leather would be FANCY!

Re: r100rt 1981 bing carb jet
I'm now using Valvoline VR-1 racing oil, 20W-50. (NOT synthetic, tho)
It's loaded with those nasty things they don't put in "auto-grade" oil any more; lotsa ZINC, etc for hot running engines with pushrods.
