Re: 74 R75/6 with white smoke and no idle
Hey Duane, I thought I had mentioned that I did try putting a few ccs directly into the cylinder. It'll fire up momentarily, but no differently than without the direct gas. With the petcocks on It'll fire the same way, but won't actually start to run beyond the sputtering and white smoke. What do yo...

Re: 74 R75/6 with white smoke and no idle
Finally made it back to the garage and checked gas flow--running roughly the 100ccs recommended by Duane. Took the carbs apart again in case something had sat up in them over the past few months and they're clean as a whistle. So fuels running properly, carbs are nice and clean, bike has spark, batt...

Re: 74 R75/6 with white smoke and no idle
Yep @sterob, carbs were totally disassembled and and every piece cleaned. Jets are clean as a whistle.
@duane, I didn't measure exact fuel flow but gas would gush and bowls were full every time I took the bowls off.
Thanks guys

Re: 74 R75/6 with white smoke and no idle
Hey Daz,
It was about a month ago, but last night it got to bothering me and I couldn't sleep. I keep that bike upstate and it was about 55. I rode another bike up there to store for the winter and figured I'd see if I could get the beemer running. Flow was good, no obstructions.

Re: 74 R75/6 with white smoke and no idle
Hey Duane, Thanks for the tips. My mistake for not mentioning that I checked for those. It has spark, fuel is running well to the carbs, float bowls are full when I flip the petcock. I'll give it a squirt when I get back to the house and come back with details. Like I mentioned before, the bike will...

74 R75/6 with white smoke and no idle
Hi guys, Been a while since I posted. Trouble free for almost 2 years! But I recently gave my airhead to my dad for him to ride this past season and he posted it up for the winter. When I went to get it going a couple of weeks ago on a warm afternoon, wouldn't start. Thought it might be the usual su...

Re: R75/6 Electrical problem
So I went through every connection and everything looked good. Finally just decided to try switching out the battery and the bike turned right on. Once the battery was unhooked from the terminals, it was reading upwards of 16 or 17 volts. I have an odyssey and I'm guessing my regulator is fried or s...

Re: R75/6 Electrical problem
No kill switch on the bike, but I was hoping it would be that easy. Airbear sent me some great wiring diagrams, can't thank you enough for that. Going to get them printed out this morning. And Ken, thanks for the detailed jumpstart. As far as my capabilities, I have a dvm and am able to read a wirin...

R75/6 Electrical problem
New to the forum here, so just wanted to say hello to everybody. I have a '74 R75/6 that up until a few days ago had been running perfectly. I took it out for a few hundred miles maybe three weeks ago and parked it, only to uncover it this past weekend with nothing running. With the key turned on, t...
