Re: Fuel injection

Edit: off to read up on this http://www.megasquirt.info/ The "micro" version of MegaSquirt is what you want... Thanks for all that info. From the searches I have done so far, that's the conclusion I've come to as well. I noticed on the Microsquirt forum there's a couple of people who have...

Re: Fuel injection

...You would never take a set of carbs off a 900 Duc and bolt them on to an R90/6 and expect it to run perfectly. You'd get a pocket full of jets and needles and settle into a couple of days of tunning. That is why you need an injection system that has the ability to be adjusted (like the SH) so yo...

Re: Fuel injection

...That could lead to a massive waste of time and money... If we were being rational we wouldn't be riding old motorbikes. :) Seeing as many of us are prepared to fit different carbs and silencers to our bikes which involves much the same effort, I'm not sure that's a deterrent. Expense? - not real...

Their system is worth more than my bike.

I was thinking more along the lines of someone bodging fuel injection onto an airhead using cheap second hand parts, eg from a BMW oilhead or the likes of a Ducati.

I was figuring on transposing the whole R850R system including sensors.

But this is outside my area of experience, so enlighten me. Why would an open loop be preferable?

Re: Fuel injection

I was thinking a bit of ingenuity and the system of an R850R could possibly be grafted on. Cheap enough bits on eBay.

Mapping it would be the trick.

Fuel injection

Has anyone wangled a fuel injection system onto an airhead?

(Just idly musing, got enough projects on the go already) :)

Re: trying to tune with new mufflers

Unless the manufacturer (Dunstall) has tested these mufflers on a R100 and provided jetting and performance data, you're on your own. I'd recommend you find somewhere with a dyno and get the bike tuned on that. My previous experience with Dunstall products leads me to regard them as fashion accessor...
