I'm with Duane on the touch test, ditto for the rear drive. I read somewhere that when the German army issued the spec. which eventually became the R75 side car rig, they required is to run all day at "marching speed" without overheating. Yes, low compression, but also primitive lubricants.

This is also how my R75/5 has always behaved. Cold, the idle is a bit too slow. Hot, it is a bit too fast. Maybe 300 RPM difference.

Static-Dynamic timing (2nd try) Here's a timing method I've used for years on my R75/5. Buy new points and condenser. They're cheap. Remove spark plugs. Remove rubber plug on the timing "window" Check key off. Remove front cover. Remove old points and condenser and install new ones. With ...
