Just my $0.02 I removed my crossover on my '74 R90/6 (single crossover) It was in bad shape after fighting with it removing the exhaust one time. I cut off the stubs off and welded the holes shut. I didn't make a point of doing before and after comparisons when removing it but my impression is that ...

Redline?
I used Redline and it looks like a strawberry milk shake.even "Redline" synthetic 75W-90 is reported to be yellow.

Kurt - you may be thinking of "wireworker" (name on advrider) who made wiring harnesses and has passed away recently....Terry Vrla (not sure if he might have passed away...I hope I got that wrong).

Charlse - have a '74 R90/6
Using the stock 150 main (stock carb), I added the springs a few years ago.
I was getting right around 43 mpg (AMERICAN) before and after installing the springs.

That would be right, otherwise it would not work when you switched the switch.
I was trying to stress that you have to operate the relay in order to really test it.

Just as Jagara said, just alligator clip a 12 volt + and - to the power in and ground, then touch 2 leads from any 12 volt bulb (not LED) to the flasher connection and ground. Mayber even a small 9Volt battery will power the flasher enough to test. Depending on the nominal voltage required to operat...
