UPDATE - leaky rear drive

In another thread I posted a pic of the leaky monoshock rear seal on my '88 RT. I popped the bad seal out, and being the cheap SOB that I am, before ordering the replacement from the dealer I checked online. Below is a pic I clipped from a retail website offering a seal of the proper size for about ...

Re: monoshock rear drive removal

Sorry - don't know as my cover was off. If you do remove the cover there are 2 threaded (5mm?) holes at 180 degrees apart. One is seen in your picture at about 9 o'clock. Screwing bolts in pushes the cover out. There is a gasket underneath.
Right...I've made a mess with the paper gasket on o...

Re: monoshock rear drive removal

Here's a pic of my leaking rear outer seal....pic was taken with the drive still on the bike so you can see the oil path leaking down the cover. Can I replace this seal by just prying it out and drifting the new one in or do I have to take the cover off? Any advice is helpful...thanks! [img]http://i...

monoshock rear drive removal

Bike is a 1988 R100RT monoshock with a leaky outer rear drive seal that I'd like to replace. Unlike the twin shock models, the four nuts that connect the drive to the swingarm are the twelve-point style, not a hex nut. The tool kit has the correct size wrench, but it doesn't fit over the nut because...

monoshock final drive brake cam tube

Bike is an '88 R100RT that recently developed a final drive leak (drip). It doesn't leak when it's sitting, only when being driven around, and for a short time after parking. A couple days before the leak started I had done some cleanup/monkeying/adjusting to the brake rod and shoes. So i'm thinking...

Re: Cylinder stud length question

I saw a couple of posts by Tom Cutter on the Airhead list. Someone asked about long studs on an R100 and he said they both went into the two rear holes on the right side. Not sure if that is the same for all Airhead blocks. In another post, he mentions the length should be 9-7/8 (9.875") to 9-...

Re: Spline lube

Wow, this guy has some good stuff on his youtube channel for airhead owners. Can't believe I missed his stuff on youtube as i'm frequently searching for airhead "how-to's" there....all I can usually find are the 20 second long silent japanese videos that seem to flood youtube and are quite...
