Re: DOT 3 vs. DOT 5
So here's the plan. I will rebuild the master cylinder but first I will flush the system using a new can of DOT 3. After flushing the system really really well I will remove the MC then clean it with warm soapy water. After a thorough rinse and dry I'll repaint it with gloss black paint then hone th...

DOT 3 vs. DOT 5
I will be rebuilding the master cylinder in the next couple of months and the question of replacing DOT 3 brake fluid with DOT 5 is bothering me. I have been told that DOT 5 is better because it does not absorb water, but that it is incompatible with DOT 3 fluid.. Recently I have been told that DOT ...

What are people riding on these days?
I have an r90/6 with Lester wheels. I'm running tubeless tires with tubes in them. 19" front and 18" rear. Specs say 3.25 H 19 front and 4.00 h 18 rear.

Re: /6 upgrades
So many options... thanks I guess. Now another problem has cropped up. The master cylinder is leaking. This will be the 4th rebuild in 38 years. Should I take care of it now or ride with it till the season is over? I bought a kit on eBay that has oversize seals in it so I'm ready to do the work, but...

Re: /6 upgrades
Thanks Moosehead & Ontic I was thinking of relocating the starter button to the dash of the S fairing, but that complicates things a bit if I want to take the fairing off. If I replace that ugly instrument cluster with a digital unit I could mount the button up there somewhere out of the way. Un...

Re: /6 upgrades
Well I wiggled a couple of wires around on the starter relay then everything was fine again. As the relay is OEM I may just replace it. New plug wires too, yellow to match the paint...The charging voltage as read at the voltmeter in the fairing is now 13.3 volts, up mor than 1/2 a volt by putting in...

Re: /6 upgrades
I saw your headlight setup from an earlier post. It looks sweet, but I am sticking with the S fairing as I like that look as well.
I was putting dielectric grease on the connections for the charging system today and now I have an electrical system failure. No good deed goes unpunished...

I have a 74 R90/6 with a ton of miles. I have owned it for 35 or 36 years at this point so I guess you could say I really like it. I rode it naked for a bunch of years, moved on to an S fairing, then an RS fairing, then a Hannigan, now back to the S with Albert Bar end mirrors.. It is currently pain...
