Best ive come across is Motobatt. I have them in my difficult to crank Ducatis and they are absolutely fantastic. Bikes can sit for months and fire up immediately. Not possible with any other brand ive tried. And no more expensive than the normal Yuasa etc. Available in Australia.

Like most things, occasionally they fail. I've read of a few lately amongst the glowing reports. One bloke had 2 fail, the second one was the replacement!

I am currently fitting on of them new fangled Lithium Ion Batteries to my 1982 r100. A 12 cell item that is more than 16lbs lighter than the lead acid battery it replaces. It is so small that it will be hidden under the seat almost out of view. Its a Ballistic item and was a bit expensive. The bike is far from standard. I will let you know how I get on...

The motobatt arrived yesterday. It came with a "free" projecta maintenance charger. So far, so good.

I have had very good luck with a Panasonic SEALED lead acid battery in my /5.
I am on my second one......The first bulged, due to an overcharging problem with a bad regulator.
Digi-Key, in Minnesota, sells them....shipped.
Panasonic... LC-X1220P
This is the samller /5 battery.
I do not know what would fit the larger battery box.
My /5 is a LWB, however, I have never really felt the need to install the larger /6 battery box.

The ballistic 12 cell Lithium Ion battery is now fitted to my R100. All is working well. I am pleased with the loss of 16lb and the battery tray, and the fact that the battery is now almost entirely out of view under the saddle. It is also pretty energetic in the starting of the bike. I have incorporated a battery isolation switch, to isolate it whilst not in use.

Did I mention that the bike was non- standard.

What type of charger do you use to charge this Li battery?
I just bought one for my CBR250R http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005FI ... UTF8&psc=1 , and the manufacturers want you to spend almost as much for their recommended charger (and not as well made as a Tender brand) to be compatible.

You say yours is a 12-cell design. Mine is only 6 cells. But there is not much resistance when it comes to start that 250. You should see how small the OEM battery is!
