Just purchased a 1973 R75/5 toaster. I have never owned a BMW yet alone a classic. The last time I rode was back in the early 80's. Is there a downloadable shop/service manual that I can get. There are some issues that I hope to resolve on my own first before resorting to a mechanic. Also, any advise or comments from the experts or not to experts here would be welcomed.

Welcome!
There is no such thing as a "toaster". It is a R75/5 with a small tank mit chrome tank adorment. It is called a toaster tank cause it looks like a toaster.
http://bmwmotorcycletech.info/technical ... s-list.htm. It's all here. Good luck!

Welcome to the forum. Those are pretty bikes. One of my riding buddies has a (I think) '71 short wheel base R75/5.
I was able to find a downloadable manual for my R65 (though I still bought the print one) on R65.org but I don't know of one floating around the internet for your bike, sorry. ZM's suggestion to look for Snowbum's site is a good one.

Welcome
Don't know of on-line manuals for your bike, but there is plenty of information available. Besides this site and Snowbum's there is also Airhead Beemer

Best of luck.

Re: New Toaster
Thanks all for the input and information. I used the term "Toaster" knowing it is a common colloquialism.

Re: New Toaster
There are several aftermarket manuals (Haynes and Clymers) that are worth the price of admission. Get both...play one off the other...note the errors, and yes, all manuals have errors, even BMW's.

Willkommen.
Here in Oz that "toaster" tank was considered less useful then the other /5 tank. It was just too small. Now they're more popular, but still too small.
What are the issues you're dealing with first?
