OK so looks like we've established that your side stand is stock and likely there's nothing wrong with the pivot. It's not like the later style pivot which was prone to spreading the ears and causing the bike to lean. It's still possible that something might be bent up where the stand connects with the engine mount bolt.
I scratch my head to come up with ideas why the bike leans over too much...for your tastes. I have the same stock stand on my /7 and discovered at some point that running the metric tire equivalents for the 3.25/4.00 inch sizes results in the bike standing too upright. The metric tires have a smaller radius so the frame is lower to the ground and that just creates havoc with the geometry. I run only the standard inch-sized tires now, so the lean angle is back. But it's really not much. I'm cautious when I use the side stand and absolutely ensure that the lean is there before I walk away from the bike...to open the garage door for example.
So, the stock setup on my /7 results in a lean of the bike but not much. What could be causing yours to lean so much more?
