I had the same problem with an R80. I was told (not by Rob) to yank on it until you fart. Didn't work. So, I used the drill method, which did work. I then filled the hole with metal filler putty. The downside was that the locking mechanism never worked again. Good luck.

Sharp tug iirc. Rope around the back of your neck, feet on the pegs and stand up quickly.

Tobster,

The "locked" state of these caps is when they spin freely.

Typically when they are unlocked and fail they will give a ratcheting feel as you turn them.

I would advise putting lots of lock lube in the keyway and working the key in and out in hopes of getting to the unlocked state.
