Hi all,
I have an R80/7 with 32mm Bing carbs. (64/32/321 & 322). My question is this:
Do the carbs need to be a matching pair or can I install a similar spec (64/32/324 for example) on one side? I am having an issue with my right side carb where the idle mixture screw in raises the idle instead of dying out and I think it could be the carb itself.
Carb numbering question

Re: Carb numbering question
Generally you can mix and match, but there are subtle differences between carbs especially when they are that close in numbers. In looking at the Bing chart, the only difference between a 322 and a 324 is the slide...other settings seem to be the same. I don't know what the difference is with the slide, but it's got a different "part" number per Bing. But the real thing that's needed will be to adjust/synch the carbs once they are installed.

Boy, if this turns out to be the reason, I am buying you a beer. I have flushed it out numerous times but will try again.gspd wrote: ↑Wed Jan 21, 2026 9:32 pmYour idle circuit is blocked. It's clearly illustrated in the third link in the first post here:

Run a fine wire or a piece of fishing line thru the hole, then flush it well.dswassy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 21, 2026 9:52 pmBoy, if this turns out to be the reason, I am buying you a beer.
