Bike ride last Autumn

I do hope you guys are still interested in Motorcycling.
The last week of August and first week of September I did a ride on mine.
Down through France to an oft talked about, but little visted town in eastern France on my way to the Franco Italian alps. ( also the Swiss alps). From there Down to Milan and then up to The Austrian alps via Morino. After Austria I went through Bavaria ( where it rained constantly) to the Czech republic where I visited the Church of bones. one of the things on my bucket list. The biggest objective was visiting the Uber secret Flytrap in what was lower Silesia in germany but is now in western Poland. From there I returned across Germany via Colditz and the German Diesel bike rally in Hamm. My final stop on the way back was in Antwerp Belgium.

Welcome aboard Larry. Looks like a great trip.

How do you like the Enfield? I havn't had time to go through all your pics, are there any from diesel bike rally?

Hey Larry nice to hear from you. Still living in France?. Great shots! I've been trying to get over there for an Alps tour. I'm hoping this will be the year.

Sounds like a great trip Larry! Thanks for bringing me here. I love castles, and castles with deep, dark secrets are even better. Except for all of the poor prisoners that suffered & died producing it. Man!, Germany spent a LOT of resources digging holes for that war.

Książ Castle is located near the city of Wałbrzych 50°50′32″N 16°17′32″E. The castle’s last owner in the inter-war period was the Hochberg family, one of the wealthiest baronial dynasties in Prussia, Hans Heinrich XV, Prince of Pless and his English wife Mary-Theresa Olivia Cornwallis-West (Princess Daisy). In 1941 the Nazis confiscated the castle. At that time sons of Daisy and Hans Heinrich fought against Hitler’s army - one in British Army and one in Polish Armed Forces in the West.

The works in Książ Castle led to the destruction of some chambers, in particular suffered the decorative elements of the ceilings and floors. The most serious work however took place below the castle. There are two levels of corridors and chambers. The first level is 15 m under the ground accessible from the castle by a lift and a staircase and also by two entrances from the gardens. It is reinforced by concrete (80 m long, 180 m2, 400 m3).[15] The second level is 53 m under the courtyard. It contains four entrances, the network of wide tunnels (5 m high and 5.5 m wide)[10] and four chambers. Most of the underground is reinforced by concrete. There are three shafts leading to the surface with diameters: 5 m (presently filled with rubble), 3.5 m and 0.7 m. The total length of the complex is 950 m (3,200 m2, 13,000 m3).[16] Presently it contains seismological measuring equipment of the Polish Academy of Sciences, only the first level of the underground is open to visitors. Above the ground are foundations for machinery, a series of buildings and storehouses and two reservoirs of water. There are remains of sewage treatment plant and a narrow gauge railway. The forced laborers camp of AL Fürstenstein was built near the castle.

Thanks. I really love my little bike. It is so manoueverable and thrifty doing 95+mpg (imperial). although the actual mph is slightly lower than my old R80 used to do, my miles per day are similar to better with less stress and strain. When travelling I tend to chug along when ready and start looking for a place to stop from about 4 pm onwards. I like to be all set with tent up and ready before I cook my evening meal, but not adverse to stopping in hotels or BnB's either. depends on weather and on what is available. Generally I like to sample the local cuisine.

Yes I am still retired here in France. Coming from a place with only very beautiful little hills and beaches I find the mountains to be something far grander and more spectacular. I did find access to much of the Alps to be through heavily built up areas unlike the Pyrenean mountains. I generally dislike towns and especially cities and try to avoid them.

Be very careful if you drive through Austria, they have speed limits and cameras everywhere and being about 20 Km over a 50 Km speed limit will cost you 900 euros. IE 42mph in a 30 mph zone. Instant fine at the roadside if caught by mobile cameras.
Higher speeds carry disproportionally higher fines.

but there is lots of good riding to be had once you are free of the towns.

The generally accepted story is the USA under operation 'paper clip' removed all the technology from the Wenceslas mine facility, including the original anti gravity 'bell' ,before the end of the war. That is why it was so interested in invading southern germany and Austria rather than the industrial areas or Berlin the capital. It is believed much of the technology ended up at white sands area and were the reason for the 'flying saucer' sightings in the late forties through the fifties. Certainlythe B2 bomber and the entire rocket programme can trace its ancestry right back to Nazi designs. It is my personal belief that anti gravity, time and torsional vortexes (wormholes/black holes) are all interlinked technologies like magnetism, electricity and radio. This technology is still not fully understood enough to be safe and I believe by finding one effect they all but opened the door to the others. Having your flying saucer create a black hole on take off is a bad side effect so this technology is deemed too dangerous to employ in the current world situation.
I really wanted to examine the Flytrap to make up my own mind about some of the conflicting stories. This trip enabled me to do this. I have to say the place makes for a creepy campsite, especially when you are alone.
Next, well this year I would like to visit Peenemunde to look at the A4 rocket history. Next year maybe visit Kursk and Stalingrad although I doubt even then I will get to see a JS2 (often printed as IS2 due to russian alphabet, was Joseph Stalin) or KV tank. You often hear about the piddley little German tiger tanks, well they could not damage or stop either of these tanks at any range unless they were behind them and very close. the 88mm gun simply had no effect on them from the front or side.
