This couldn't be the famous "Eat Shit and Die" Capri BMW, could it? Naw, I'm pretty sure that was a K-bike. It does say "Turbo" though, right there on the rear seat cowl.

As Sgt. Schulz might say "very interestink".

I'm guessing the named previous owner in the ebay advert might be the famed dealer that one of our esteemed white haired posters has had less than optimal dealings with in the past?

This same bike crossed the block on e-bay many years ago.
At that time, it still had it's Krauser 4V heads fitted ...
Image

While owned by Matt Capri / Luftmeister, the Rob North mono-shock with a 180 hp turbo K4V engine
was the 1980 National Record Holder, 10.50 ET @ 139.53 mph.
RB Racing built the turbo kit for this bike and subsequent Lufty turbo kits.
Lufty had a black-n-white pic of this bike on the back page of their catalogue in 1993.

... And this will be the same bike that is up for flea-bay auction.

It's been passed around since the Luftmeister / Matt Capri days ..

from the ad copy:
" ... This is the original Luftmeister Rob North BMW R100S racer that was built, tuned and raced by Matt Capri
... It was the rolling test bed bike for Luftmeister Performance products in the late 70's early 80's.
It uses an original Rob North hand built frame of which 3 were built for the BMW airhead twin motor
but only one monoshock*
...
I purchased the bike/parts as it sits today, the previous owner was going to put it back on the street ..."

More North / BMW history:
"Gary Fisher’s achievement in qualifying his Rob North BMW on the front row of the grid for the tight, twisty Laguna Seca AMA National in 1975, then battling for the lead with future world champion Kenny Roberts’ Yamaha, before the BMW’s monoshock suspension failed, represented a glorious finale.

Gary Fisher's Rob North framed B&S F-750 GP Bike:
Image
Gary Fisher's Rob North framed B&S F-750 GP
was converted to monoshock near the end of development,
just before AMA adopted the Superbike format.
This bike is currently in the Barbor Motorsports Museum.

Reg Pridmore never liked the mono, either, and rode the twin-shock version ...

* my emphasis. I will believe that the mono was tried on any or all of the 3 North frames as needed ...

The auction says that the bike comes with the Krauser heads. The bike would be so much more compelling as an auction with the fairing shown in vanzen's post.

Wow! That was a very interesting read major. We've heard here on Boxerworks what a crook Matt Capri is. The article showed some of the breadth and depth of it. Taking the article at face value it would appear that he left no stone unturned in his quest to fuck everybody every time.

From your link I went to the home page and "discovered" RB Racing. It's a loooong home page, but I reccommend scrolling down about 2/3 of the way and you will see some very cool exhaust systems billed as for a R100RS. I'm thinking they would fit my S bike just fine. :D

I like the left-side muffler. Better for U.S. sidecar applications.
Back when I had my rig, all that I could find were the Kerker 2-into-1 which went to the right side.
No doubt RB had something at the time (@1985), but I wasn't aware of it.

RB Racing designed all (or most) of Lufty's exhausts sold in the day ...

Yup, a lot of bitching about how Lufty dealt with that scene, too.

I am left with two thoughts:
1) Matt Capri was a shyster, and
2) RB likes to bitch.

p.s.
Once you see the price tag on the new RB Racing exhaust ...
you may no longer be interested.

This is a fascinating topic on many levels. I agree with the post above that the bike would be all the more appealing with the heads and other parts fitted.
