BOB'S REPLICA SHOCK ABSORBERS FOR 77-84 /7
BOB'S REPLICA SHOCK ABSORBERS FOR 77-84 /7
Does anyone have any experience with Bob’s BMW replica Shocks? I am considering purchasing a pair for an R80/7.

No experience with Bob's replica shocks ...
but I guess that's not enough to stop me, esp. since no one else has responded ...
I would be concerned about WHO actually manufactures the replica.
10:1 says some place in China (the way of the world today), and although this is not necessarily a bad thing –
product quality really runs the gamut depending upon many factors.
If the shock isn't branded by a reputable manufacturer who will be responsible for the quality of the product,
and the assurance that quality parts will be available in the future –
I'd be very, very careful.
Given the price, and, quite frankly, the performance of the original Boge –
I'd be looking at Ikons if $$ is a factor.
If not, then a shock that actually works well ...

No experience either, but I have the same question as I'm looking to replace the shocks on my R65 soon. I did notice that Bob's is selling Progressives w/choice of heavy or standard springs for twin shock R-bikes for a few dollars less than those replicas. Might just have to email or call Bob's this week to get some more info. I can't seem to find anything on the internets about the replicas.

Re: BOB'S REPLICA SHOCK ABSORBERS FOR 77-84 /7
I bought a set of economy shocks from Motobins. I took them off after only a couple of hundred miles as I didn't like the ride. The compresion damping was as stiff as rebound, and the travel was less than three inchs. The shocks are rebuildable so I will one day take them apart and see if I can't modify the damping to suit me. The travel I'm stuck with.
BTW Ikons/Konis also have less than 3" of travel.
I now wish that I had saved my money to put toward something better.
