Insurance opinions please

Post by CVA-42 »

Recently, I cancelled my Progressive insurance on my old bikes and signed on with Hagerty. Better coverage of the type that I need for less money. Immediately following that, Progressive jacked up my premiums substantially on the two remaining bikes I had with them. I called them about it and that's "the best they can do". I've gotten a quote from Foremost and I can save money with them for equivalent insurance. Does anyone have any experience with Foremost? Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere - - I did a search and didn't find anything on them. Thanks....

CVA, no help, just more questions. I have liability from Progresive ($75 a year).

For $130, Hagerty will give me full coverage with a $4k value and a few thousand miles a year to ride. It has tow coverage also.

Have you been happy with them so far? Probably haven't had a claim, has anyone else with Hagerty?

Thanks - I need to renew in the next 2 months, so I'll probably change soon.

Ive been with Dairyland for a long time. Since my blunder, my rates jumped a lot last year ($138 to $213), and got a substantial increase again, this year. ($241)
My agent - Green Light Ins. in Chicago - shopped around for me and found a much better rate with Progressive, provided I didn't have any tickets or accidents in the last 3-5 years. Well, I got a speeding ticket in the cage in January, and apparently my agent isn't aware of the blunder 2.5 years ago???
I'm not about to sign up for new insurance, only to be turned down for withholding facts from them.

Actually, I will not be getting any insurance this year. It will, sadly, be another "ride-free" year for me, due to the impending loss of my job, and possible relocation to Penn.

Good luck, and watch your speed!

PK - - Yeah, happy so far but have had no claims with Hagerty so can't comment on that. Then again, I had no claims with Progressive, either. Hagerty is substantially cheaper than what I was paying with Progressive and they still had no problems with the agreed upon values that I wanted. I asked Progressive what it would cost for replacement value coverage and all they would talk was Blue Book. I understand that but it would have sent the premiums through the roof. The quid pro quo with Hagerty, of course, is that I agree that the old bikes are not everyday riders, which they're not in my case. I also had to supply photos and descriptions. Kind of an involved process as compared to others but worth my while. BTW - - the reason for me looking at other coverage for the two bikes I still have with Progressive is that they jacked the premiums for them by nearly forty percent when I took the old bikes off the policy. Ten percent, maybe. Twenty percent, maybe we can still talk. But FORTY percent and it's the "best" you can do? I don't think so.

Sadly, it seems that changing companies is the best way to get the best rate. Insurance companies have no concept of loyalty.
