Another basket case project...This time R75/6

Post by Boertjie »

Hi Y'all, Charlie, Veg, Frog, Chuey, Ross, The Steve's, Duane, Sunbeem, Timo, Rob, The Kens, 00weel, Sibbo, ZM, The Matts, Grant, Shellbe, ME109 etc. etc.

GSPD still busy with his sabbatical? And FH??

I have been busy at work, lurking sometimes here and The R100S is OK no problems!

Last time around I talked about the shed of parts, frames, engines etc. I could bought for a few bucks, but I convinced the owner to list the parts separately, so he could make more money. Older people without a steady pension or income is not a walk in the park I think..Anyways, a couple of weeks there after a bloke I got to know on Facebook (BMW Cape Town) asked me if I'm interested in a R75/6, which I replied I rather buy basket cases, repair them, and keep them (some for a while). He told me that the bike were in parts, and I can have it for free if I want. To make a long story short, here's a few pics of the first parts I got in boxes. So yes, it looks like I have some work to do..Keep you updated.

I got faith in you. What color are you going to paint it when you get it running?

Dagse Johan. No wonder we don't see you here very often.
I predict that you will be busy for some time, toiling away at 'Johan's Home for Broken Airheads'.

Here's some advice from Fifteen Bobsworth Longfellow (alias John Clarke)

Take the pieces from the package,
Lay them out as per the graph,
Gathering the bits you'll need,
Removing what you shouldn't have.
With the implement provided
Ease the bearings to the left,
Push the little angled mullion
Up into the socket 'F'.
This will free the moulded bracket
Holding back the nylon strand,
Draw the slippery hoop and coupling
Through the right-hand rubber-band.
Put the topside brown side outside,
Push the inside upside down,
Underneath the left-hand wingnut,
Press the folding backward crown.
Overlapping lifting side-flaps
Lower in to fit the screws,
Pack up tools, retire to distance,
Don protective hat, light fuse.

Good luck with your project.
