that's a great plug for the bike! Has anyone here "tuned" an R65? Might be fun to get a bit more pep and tune the suspension. There used to be a rider on this board, Rob, who owned a R65. Where did he go?

Why waste time "tuning" just replace that small engine with a larger one.

The LS is fun to ride on curvy roads, but just isn't a good tourer. BMW gave me one once and I enjoyed it, but far prefer the R80GS or R80ST.

You can bore out and sleeve the barrels and fit bigger pistons. They go very nicely as a 750 apparently. I had an interesting discussion with legendary BMW mechanic Richard DiFazio who had done this modification to several bikes. He did offer me a set of barrels and Guzzi pistons he'd prepared for a hill climber - would give around 850cc. I think Richard suggested using R100 big valve heads with them. I was tempted...

CC Products used to sell an 850 mod kit for the R65 that made it a real little powerhouse!

I would really love to have an R65 and the one to own is the LS. Those are moving into the collectable range here in the San Francisco area and prices are climbing, as the nicer examples get bought up.

If you want one, get it now!

I have all of the parts to make a R65, but some major ones need to be replaced (top end).
In other words, I need to spend $1000 to put my $1500 motorcycle back on the road (again... )

It's partin' out time, I guess.
