1986 R80RT conversion

Post by jimpic »

have removed fairing of 1986 R80RT to turn into naked daily commuter. Could you direct me to a resource for front directionals and a way to anchor the main ignition switch now that fairing is gone. Any other problems , or parts that I may need would be appreciated also. And thank you to the folks that answered previous post regarding ignition wiring. Problem solved. Bike is now running.

The cheap and dirty way to mount the front indicators is to buy cheap indicators from any bike shop and mount them on the lower arms of the 'spider' that used to hold the fairing.

The proper way to do it means going back to stock, I'm not sure what that means in terms of a 86, but on my 82, the costs in new parts were almost as much as I got for the RT fairing. IMHO RT handlebars on a naked bike look very odd.
