Been a hectic year, so my wife and I took some time to just get away. Stayed in the Lower 48. Did the southwest region.
Spent time in Planes, Trains and Automobiles. The most fun was taking the train from Williams into the Grand Canyon. We met up with 3 other couples we have been friends with for a quarter of a century (FOOK that sounds odd typing that in!) and spent a couple nights there and at the Grand Canyon taking in a Hike down the Bright Angel Trail and all the Sunrises and Sunsets we could absorb, eating at the El Tovar and enjoying the bar on the patio overlooking the Canyon.

Havent ridden in awhile, was gonna go ride today but it is 99 degree's my thermometer says. Add in there are clouds in the sky making for a humid day, makes me pass on suiting up and getting out there.

This was in the Kneeslider. These are their words below.

"Once again, as I was digging deep in The Kneeslider's motorcycle research archives I came across something I never knew existed. The rather unconventional bike you see above was called the Dragwaye. It was designed by Clive Waye in the early 1960s, powered by a 1300cc supercharged VW engine and it was ridden by Dave Lecoq in 1970. Dave managed a 9.815 second quarter mile. When you consider he must have been traveling 130 mph or so at the finish line, it would have made for some interesting riding. Wow!"

I had this in 1985 - a Ural with a 40hp VW engine and a Jupiter chair on the left.I didn't build it,but picked it up as an unfinished project.The VW didn't make much more hp than the Ural,but had gobs more torque...max revs were less too,so like a VW car,max speed was cruising speed.Crossed up powerslides in top gear,left or right,it was a shit load of fun...but ugly.

As you say may have bee "UGLY" or FUGLY as we call them. Sounds as tho it gave you many $#!T$ and GIGGLES over the time you had it. Do you kow if it is still a runner or even where it is? Was it a Kick start, Electric start or BOTH?

I hear it ended up a couple of towns from here,and certainly not a runner...dunno if any parts of it even exist.It used the VW starter,and had the Ural kick as well...that lever you see on the gearbox is the neutral finder.A lot of fun alright - one day I had my 4 year old daughter in the chair,I was flying the chair around a corner,not really thinking about how a 4 year old would react as it was just my normal cornering technique.She started screaming and I quickly brought it down and stopped the outfit and asked was she ok - she nodded and yelled ''Go,go...do it again!''.
