Re: We need a broken /2
Once set up, the timing with the magneto is super simple to keep going. The points last longer than the crankshafts. One only needs to reset the points gap the rest of its life and it will be timed.

Carb is leaking again so it looks like I have a project this weekend. The bike runs so well, i worry about screwing up the balance of the carbs but I can't have gas dripping out of it.

Removing the float bowl cover and lapping the needle shouldn't change your adjustments. Besides, it is easier to balance at idle than to lap the needle.

Re: We need a broken /2
The carb still leaks after removing the float, lapping the needle, etc...
It seems to be coming from that needle but only when the fuel is on, and the bike is on the side stand. I have a feeling that something is worn in there thus a small passage for the gas. Maybe I need a replacement needle? Humm...

Re: We need a broken /2
Are you certain that the leak isn't coming from the fuel line? This has bitten people in the past and driven them nuts trying to get the carb to stop leaking when the leak was actually from the line coming into the carb.

Re: We need a broken /2
Yes, certain it isn't the fuel line. It has something to do with the carb because it only happens while on the sidestand. It is like the gas finds a small opening when leaned over and that opening results in a nice drip drip of gas...

Or, because it's leaned over, the gravity is causing more friction and doesn't let the needle fully seat because some of the bouyant forces are taken out by friction rather than being fully applied to the needle into the seat. ????
