Rear hub part number

Post by Laughing Gnome »

I ordered a new rear hub for my 1972 R75/5 (Mfg Part# 36311232811) and this is what I received. Did BMW supersede this part from the hubcap style hub?

Could you buy the hub cap (36311230338) and convert it?

No they are totally different. My hub is chamfered and is inset for the hubcap.

Wouldn't be the first time that BMW used the same part number and superseded it with the newer part.

Yeah, as far as I can see, it's the same casting just machined differently. If so, no reason you can't have it machined to match.

actually there are more differences than that. The original rim has 4 ribs as opposed to 3 on the new one.
