One (maybe the only one? no, there's others) benefit of having the master cyl for the front brakes under the tank is you need to pull the tank often to service the ms then you'd notice a problem with the gas lines, etc pretty quick.
(Another is in the case of some discrepancy as to which side should the rubber be on relative to the bike/road it doesn't get smashed.)

I assume you mean the "pulse air" system? Snowbum did a good write up on it here: http://bmwmotorcycletech.info/pulseair.htm Note: the wiring subharness can be eliminated by unplugging both ends and connecting the male to female plugs from the main harness together.

Tim, thanks for the link. Snowbum calls it the "Evaporative Emission System." Prior owner removed disconnected the
tank overflow hose from the system. I'm going to remove the cans and plumbing that remain and reroute the 2 tank
hoses. Should be good to go afterwards. Thanks.

I haven't used a hose for the tank overflow for years and years. Do most use this hose?

I'm with you Steve - never had a hose on there, never had petrol come out of the 'overflow'. Isn't that sealed off from the tank when the cap is on?
