Duane Ausherman wrote:The toasters were first introduced for the 72 model year. That happens in 1972, so about 1/3 of any year's production would occur in the previous years. This is exactly the same with every manufacturer that I know of, so why do we get confused about the year with BMW?
Why do we get confused? Well the answer to that question is simple. We get confused because we didn't know that every manufacturer introduces the next year about 1/3 of the year's production of the present year. I didn't really ask that question but I didn't know the answer if I did.

Anyhow, thanks for the information. Now I know that the bike is indeed a 1972 made in 1971. Makes sense to me.

Actually I'm even more confused now.

I'm confused that daz has managed to get through life not realizing that the new model year comes out in the fall prededing that year, since it has done so my entire life.

I'm confused because this sentence of daz's doesn't make any sense to me: "We get confused because we didn't know that every manufacturer introduces the next year about 1/3 of the year's production of the present year."

AND, I'm confused because Duane typoed so that his "lesson" about when a model year comes out actually has one of the years wrong and thus completely confuses the whole issue: "The toasters were first introduced for the 72 model year. That happens in 1972, so about 1/3 of any year's production would occur in the previous years."

So, while just minutes ago I used to understand all of this, NOW I just don't know....

Firstly, you cannot base any facts on observations over your entire life, as that hasn't occurred yet. :ugeek:
And I thought the new model started in spring.

Au contraire. At any moment in time, my entire life only exists up to that moment - and, may not continue beyond that moment. The unstated "so far" is thoroughly understood. Virtually every empirical fact we learn from first hand observation is, in fact, dependent upon all the observations of our "entire life," and, as such, can be adjusted as future as yet unlived moments provide more data. "My Entire Life" is a clear definable finite variable - that finite variable just continually increases throughout time . . . until it does not.

Speaking of one's "entire life" is far more logically reasonable than saying you will do something "tomorrow," as one knows how long one's entire life "has been," but one has absolutely no knowledge that any more of it "will be." :ugeek:

Right. Very well then.
Carry on.

As for doing something tomorrow, what's the rush?

Mal S7 , looks like the toaster has sold, - did you buy it?

If you missed out I have a nice 900 cc R75/7 here which I could be prepared to part with - I have to pay for a car I just bought.

The car is a 2005 model MY05 Subaru Impreza, compliance plate 2/05, first registered 7/05 and made 10/04 -------.

The bike has a genuine 105,000 km, and has the usual Koni's, twin disks, electronic ignition, S type faring, etc etc .
I have K bike forks and brakes, Mikunis, 1000 cc Nicasil barrels and squish band pistons, etc,for sale too if you fancy warming it up a little,

PM me if you are really looking far a good bike.

Gday Roy
No I didnt buy it. The listing was "taken down" pretty quick. It was a good price so no surprise.
I'll pass on the /7 as I have one already. I shouldnt be wanting a /5 but I do. Might get to the States in 2015 and hunt one down, that would be an adventure.

You can tell me more though about the Nic barrels and pistons. Will they bolt straight on?
