Main wiring harness questions

Post by Jeff in W.C. »

I have a question for the experts here. I have a 1988 R100 RT. The main wiring harness was changed in for the monoshock RT's in 1991; however, most other wiring harnesses do not appear to have been changed. The fuse arrangement on the newer one is different (two 8A fuses vs four 15A fuses). Would it be beneficial to purchase the newer wiring harness versus the older one? (this assumes I need to order a new one anyway). If I do order the newer one, it does look like I will need the newer fuse box to go with it. Anything else I need to be aware of?

Jeff - I have one stashed away that I believe is newer than my '87 RS.
Don't have it in front of me now, but I seem to remember the fusebox as being a rubber covered waterproof item.
Does this ring a bell with you?
I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.
