Pinlocks are easy enough to care for. What needs to be avoided is marking them. They're soft and once marked they can't be fixed.
I trashed my first one by shoving my gloves inside the helmet. The gloves left some lines that couldn't be removed. I still shove my gloves in the helmet, but I'm much more careful now.

An alternative to pin lock and wipe on solutions may be look at double wall snow mobile helmet shields and heated shields.

Weird, I never had such a problem with Scorpion shields. I wonder if you had a defective one?

I made an ant farm out of my pinloc and they keep it quite clean.
Although they make me go cross eyed watching them when it's going to rain

Well, I thought that was probably the case, so I returned it to the place I bought the helmet. They gave me another one and it was not much better, but tolerable. It may be that I had gotten used to my old helmets' visor-a Shoei . Shoei's shields are aircraft quality. If clean, you literally cannot tell that you are looking through anything at all.
