The later 'washerless' bolts should be tightened to between 38 and 42 nm or 28 and 31 lbf ft. The original bolts should never be fitted without washers (they are too long and will foul the oil seal). Bolts should be inserted dry... BMW service bulletin 26 002 83 (260R) refers.

Hi Rob, thank you for that info, yes am using the shorter new bolts without the lock washers.
