Could you just have it lashed to a pallet and pay regular freight? I would think that would be the cheapest...

old 250 cross country.....ouch.
beyond the iron butt issues it would require time off work to go back, fix it up, drive it, fix it during the drive, invest in 30 pounds of 'anti-monkey butt' powder, and then a month or two of working out the calluses after.
