Early on in our relationship, I'd say she'd owe me a lot. I think I've put about twice as much into her than I paid. I'd say she's a bit ungrateful, but I'm ignoring her a bit too much these days. I promised to give her a new chain a few years ago. Although I've purchased the chain, I just don't have the time to install it. Honesty, I'm trying to spend more time with my mistress, but the family just gets in the way. She deserves more than to be ignored in the corner of the garage, so, think I owe her more now.

Not that much cause I use Jap stuff for high milage runs. I run my R100S regularly, but more for special rides, events. I take the R100S to lunch to meet with friends. I love riding it. When my Shitzuki stared eating it's camshafts, I was able to find good used ones with rockers and all head components for $150. Try that with a Beemer! I remember reading a comparo of sport bikes last year. The front brake lever for the latest Beemer was $300. the Honda was $53. And so it goes.

I have just read on another forum how much it can cost to replace the ABS module that craps out regularly on rough roads on the modern hexhead things. $5,000. I will not complain again about the cost of parts for my airhead.

Love the old Beemers, they can keep the new ones.

I can't remember a single BMW that cost me more than I sold it for.

Before I opened up a BMW pirate repair shop, I probably owned a couple of dozen BMWs. I only remember two that I sold for the purchase price. All the rest were profitable to some extent. Some did very well for me.

After that, all made me money. Oh wait, I did restore a few and they were some loss. Without restoring the bike, I don't know how one would lose money. It is so easy to buy them right, ride them a couple of years and then let someone talk you out of it.

Duane -- most of the pirates I've seen, have a wooden leg and an eye patch.
Are those the ones you repaired ?
