I have had the privilege of meeting and talking with these two incredible women on several occasions.
Each has created for herself the circumstances to prioritize the accumulation of miles as a directed ambition.
Both women certainly possess the focused intention, energy, drive, ... and funds ...
to pursue and break mileage records.

Voni, married to Paul Glaves, is not single.
Ardys is a mother of 4, grandmother, and great grandmother !

Ardys rode 103,345 miles between April 8, 2006 and April 7, 2007,
with 80,129 miles of that recorded for an award in the (6-month) 2006 MOA mileage contest.

& Ardys and Voni are super nice, Ive never ridden with either of them though.
I know Ardys found a spot out in rural TX with a long stretch of road to run out a tank o gas at WFO with filling stations at both ends she used in addition to her already hefty annual mileage expectations to run up 100,000 in 1 year. She'd go out every day & run out, eat lunch & back again. It took extra effort for her to rack up 100K in one year. & if you think thats somehow lame or unsporting stop & think about this....she didn't have a daily commute to work & back. Many do, she just happened to be retired & needed to replicate the daily commute of a working stiff.

But 1 million in your life time? pfff, MANY of us have long since done a mil. in cars commuting back & forth to work every day. Give up your decadent addiction to cars and 1 million miles on motorcycles is easy.

when I was in my 20's I noticed that I was doing easily 10,000 more than the highest mile rider in the GA club & maybe the only person in GA who rode more in the MOA mileage contest was Carol youorski "SKERT" just by commuting back & forth to work every day, I never entered club mileage contests. in my early 30's I realized if I'd kept up my annual mileage I'd peg a million before I turned 50. Then things changed & I thought "I can break half a million before I turn 40".... when I turned 40 I was well under that figure by probably 100K. I didn't commute to work any more for one....at this stage of the game my priorities have changed & I don't give a shit so much. Its all about perspective now...

I sense a kindred spirit. If I don't have anywhere to go, I don't usually go anywhere. The only reason for my halfway high mileage (usually over 10,000 miles per year on my bikes, but that's going way down this year thanks to bicycle riding) is that I have a 100 mile per day commute. If I don't have to go to work, I rarely wish to leave home. Motorcycles aren't a lifestyle, nor toys, nor escape for me. They are transportation that just happens to be more fun than anything with 4 wheels.

Nowdays when I do ride my motorcycle to work I feel, as the Major says, like a pussy because I didn't take my bicycle.

Edit: to avoid confusion and overly impressing my fellow bicyclists, I need to point out that I don't ride my bicycle a hundred miles a day. I ride 9 miles in the morning to catch a commter bus, and anywhere from 9 to 20 or so on the way home.
