They had a bit of a cult following.

Those are VERY nice, and that's an excellent price for a nice example.

Yeah possibly. They were another great bike that nobody bought.
I raced against them a little in the BOTT class. The biggest thing against them was that 650cc put them into "heavyweight" Twins (+600cc).
Good motor + good handling.
They don't come up very often here, but I'm watching.

For their time they were a blast. I would trade off between my friend's 305 Superhawk and my BSA 500cc Gold Star. The Goldie was a retired racer and had much more power but the Superhawk had a lot going for it. The service manuals from Honda at that time (about 1965-66) were a scream - all in pidgin English. I remember one I had for a Yamaha that said "beware of the mud grease" while riding.

Anyone here ever ridden one?

I'd love to get one for my wife. I knew a guy who had one just like that. I have some of the parts he left behind when he moved.

Did your friend like his?

I bought a used one in about 1964-65 with very few miles on it. After a BMW it was a sorry ride for touring. I got rid of it for a R69 that I rode all over the USA.

It was certainly not a touring bike. It was a "lightweight" sport bike.

Didn't Robert Pirsig ride a Honda SuperHawk ?

That one would fetch the money.
