I use the BMW gortex gloves which are light and comfie, and dry, and only use an inner glove if the cold is likely. For summer I have a pair of leather Held Bagira gloves, not Steves, and how I wear them relative to the jacket depends on the jacket and the weather, even behind the RS fairing.
The way some jackets are made these days means wearing the glove inside the cuff is the way to go. They're the ones with the inbuilt waterproof liner, where the water penetrates the outer layer, hits the waterproof layer then seeks a level. If your arms lean down to the bars, water will collect in the gloves if the gloves are set outside the sleeves ala gauntlets.
The other sort eg, Firstgear Rainier and TigerAngel Element jackets, have a waterproof outer layer, and the gloves can be worn like gauntlets. They're much lighter to wear, less bulky but a bit more expensive.

Bayside in Vancouver has First Gear stuff:
http://www.baysideperformance.ca/index. ... s_id=21693 but I hardly ever get over there. Gloves seem to be the hardest thing to buy online. I'm very picky about how they fit.
All the local bike shops have crap brands in stock, cept the BMW and Triumph brand names.
I'm on Gorge RD not far from where I work at Gorge Auto.

I have looked at some of the BMW gloves because they fit me OK. They are frighteninly expensive at our local dealer, but if they work and last then it's money well spent.

With my Windjammer I definitely need the glove gauntlets inside my suit sleeves. No wind to speak of so the water just runs down my arms. I don't mind wet hands so much but dang they get cold fast once wet. Maybe I need neoprene gloves, like a wet suit. Yuck.
I want to try some Olympia gloves next; their other products seem really nice.

They have the First Gear TPG Cold weather gloves at Action (Victoria BC) but they want $130. When I can get them delivered for $90.
I'd rather shop locally but that is just too much! We get so gouged up here. BTW, I was just giving you a hard time about where-ing gloves.

I use BMW gloves with BMW jacket, they are both goretex and work very well with the jacket over the gauntlets of the gloves. Jacket has elasticated cuffs and you don't get water up the jacket sleeve.
In general motorcyle kit is so much better than it used to be.

Zombie Master's post was right on. It is the angle of the bars and whether or not you have a fairing that cuts the wind to the hand area.
On my RS, low handlebar position and fairing, if I wear the gloves outside the jacket, they nicely funnel water into the fingers of the glove and my hands freeze. By putting rain type gloves inside the jacket cuff, the water rolls down the sleeve and off the gloves and Chuey has happy and comfortable hands. Thing is, I like Held gloves because their thumbs are long enough for my thumbs. All their rain gloves have huge gauntlets and not enough take up in the gauntlet velcro to make them go willingly under the sleeves of my Aerostich suit. I still manage but would like to find gloves that would work better in that regard. I've thought of modifying the ones I have.
