If you don't have the time, or tools to make the tool, you can purchase one from Cycleworks. On the cheap side, I've read of some people using a 4" (I think it was a 4") piece of plastic drain pipe to assist in tapping the RMS in. Just take the seal to the hardware store and figure out which one fits the best.

Yep, sorry. I couldn't remember whether it was a gasket or an o-ring for the oil pump, so I just called it a seal.

I approve of your alternative method for getting the RMS into place. It is crazy to do the simple thing when it is possible to have such fun devising a complex system involving all available technology. Well done.

I also highly approve of your 'able assistant'.

Brad - you might want to replace the o-ring on the front side of the flywheel, if your bike has one.
I don't know what it is, but it is cheap.

It is nearly the same size as the oil pump cover, so don't fret if one doesn't fit the other.
The oil pump cover o-ring is the smaller of the two diameters.

I hope I didn't throw you off w/ mention of the "special tool", I generally use a small hammer and a piece of wood(dowel, etc) for these seals...although I do have Jeff Trapps version. I've not blocked an Omega equipped motor, but as long as the crank remains stationary during dis/re-assembly that is all that matters.
