Another supplier to Wards and Sears for bicycles and motorcycles was PUCH. When I worked in bike shops in the 50-60, we would see quite a few bicycles from them re-tagged as from one of those stores.
I also had a 441 BSA, my first road bike when I got out of the Army in 68. Have an engine for one in my attic.

No trouble getting a BSA or Triumph to run these were cheap and plentful in Swapmeet speak


used raceing parts were cheap better quality over the British parts its the orginal and restored that push the price up after all you do need a speciman to build

Beta fork
lighted timeing gears
Hipo lites
Rupp cranks

The Police specal were may favorte forks the 1969-1971 dual shoe front brake was good

a 1956 650 was a favorate up dated with factory parts, early frame and later forks leather seat later 9 bolt top end dual carbs

And I am sorry about the 441 Victor (Victim). I had one of those in years past. When it ran it was a tractor but it did not run very often. LOL:
Victors are victims in the sense that they get blamed for the inadequacy of person blaming it for for its troubles...

What I'd call a Vicious Cycle ;-{)

Victors are as good as the the mechanic that works on them. I put endless miles on a 1965 C15 (God, I loved that bike!), and several 441 Victors, as well as a Holy Grail Matchless G80TCS, Typhoon Competition Scrambler, a 1960 600cc single that had been owned, and lightly abused by Evel Knievel, sat from 1963 to 1980 when I bought it. Had it running in a couple days and did some pretty extensive riding on. Also had a Norton P15, and a Triumph 500 Twin, West Coast Competition model with the alloy fenders. But I had the best luck with the BSA singles, and the Matchless.

If I could only have another Victor, and early round barrel, with the single seat... I'd be in heaven.

I'd be riding right now!


A BSA Victor was the last four stroke to win a World Championship Motocross, in 1965. Then came the seemingly endless reign of the two strokes. And the rebirth of the 4 strokes.

That old BSA engine in my attic is a round barrel, have an oil tank and exhaust pipe for it.

Just in case you want to start accumilating parts.

When I was musing upon the idea of getting a '60's era Brit bike, my wife said -

Something I have realized about myself is that I need a good "dope slap" once in a while.
