Gidday all. Here's a November calendar. Have a think about which weekends might be possible (or impossible).
Bob is available from the 5th. I'm available pretty well any time, except ...
The 19-21th of November is the SR500 rally here in Bethanga, held just over my back fence. I like to hear all those 500 singles thumping around. I know George of Bethanga likes to get to it, and I'll prolly go this year. They traditionally bring some good rain with them.
Location Location Location?
So far Bellingen, Ellenborough and Sofala have been suggested. With any event projected in advance the weather can be a difficulty. We need a place with at least a covered cooking area to guarantee comfort.
Distance-wise, I am biased towards some place not much further north than Newcastle, but I'm being selfish there (on behalf of the Borderline Mexicans - Doug, Jeff, George, Ray and meself). Some southern Mexicans might also come. SteveD has indicated that he can't make it, but there's Pete, Hans and Grant - maybe more (stay at mine on the Thursday night if possible, gents).
I like the sound of Sofala (I want to try Bob's Sofala Sofa!). Somewhere in that region would be especially good for me - I might be able to tempt my daughter to ride over as well on Bruce the Honda. She lives in your neighbourhood, Ross. Maybe you could bring Jan if it all falls into place.
Anyway, toss some ideas around and we'll see if we can get a consensus.

Blokes,
I think that the 12/13/14 might be my only oppertunity... I'll have a look at my school atlas for Sofala!... my googles maps thing is stuffed at the moment. Ive always wanted to go Sofala.... It's got some place in australian popular culture but I cant remeber what!!.... and the sofa looks like reason enough!!!...

G'day Mates
Well, I just put that photo of the sofa in as a bit of a joke, but it's not a bad camp site, shelters, toilets, etc, but Sofala
is limited on the amenities side, no fuel or general store just the pub and a couple of cafe's. so it's wise to fuel up and
bring a good supply of food in.
In saying that Ellenborough would also suit me as I haven't camped there. The 12th to 14th would be suitable for me
Either way I will be along.

Here's a nifty little program to ascertain preferences.
http://doodle.com/
Once a destination is chosen, just populate the thing with the names of the participants, with alternative dates for them to choose.

Being a resident of the central west of NSW I can probably speak with some authority on the merits or otherwise of towns, campsites in the region. Sofala would be good but is better experienced as a short trip for a counter lunch etc.
First you need to decide if you want to camp or pub. I know that accommodation costs in pubs etc. can eat into the trip finances but we still need to establish that.
Agree with Doug that Guyra et. al. would be difficult to get to in a day from Albury. Lord knows its 6 hours north from me in Dubbo. If the north-eastern Victorians are in, can I suggest Mudgee as a potential venue with plenty of access to great rides in the region. It is also a tourist Mecca in itself, not unlike Beechworth with great wine and food. Lake Windermere is a few kms out of Mudgee and is rated as one of the premier native fisheries in Australia. Good camping there as well.

About 3/4 hour ride away is Rylstone. Rylstone is home to a great little campsite called Dunns Swamp
http://www.theage.com.au/travel/secrets ... -7gm4.html
Dunns Swamp has great fishing and very pretty. A few kms of hard packed sandstone gravel road to get in but good in most weather. I've camped there a few times and it is the pick of the region. Unfortunately "Getaway" did a special on Dunns Swamp a few years ago and it can get a little busy on weekends.
Happy for comments

Mudgee ,Rylstone etc are a good day and a half ride for me .I could make Guyra in 4 hours .............so it might be a miss for me.I won't have the time in November .
