Randy, you have contradicted yourself. If you put a penny across it and the light comes on, then that proves that adding certain conductivity finishes the path for the light circuit. Then you say that you measured 0 ohms, as in zero. I posit that you had infinite ohms, the opposite of 0. Were it really 0 ohms, then shorting it out with the penny would change nothing.
Or, do I need to go back to school about juice?

Only prune juice. You appear to have the electrical juice issue under control.
