IMNSHO maintain this classic bike, and use it the way it was designed to be used. It's a great design, and you will only become less satisfied with it if you try to "improve it". I ride a KTM 990 SMT and when I get back on my R100S it feels kinda frumpy until I get used to it again. Then I'm totally happy with it.

Want to compare speed and efficiency against you Aprilla?

Set them up side by side with a timer. See how long it takes to do a valve adjustment, then decide which bike is fast!

I miss my 77 RS and my 79

Hello All, thank you for all you replies , have bin a way for some days, nice weekend at Spa Francorchamps, a big classic meeting, want to participate next year whit the RS.
I will do some modifications, but keep the bike appearance original.
Not like some bikes on the photo's , but I would not withhold them from you.

I will keep you posted on the progress, I will start working on the bike soon, yesterday on the way home the clutch started slipping, so that needs to be fixed anyway.

Nice Bike!! From what I remember a '79 should pump out about 70 horsepower, so with the age, mileage, and the fact that you are taking the dyno reading from the rear wheel and not the crankshaft, I would say you have a quite healthy RS.

Rebbel, that is trough, normally you lose 10-15% from the crank to the rear wheel. So it is not to bad.

Steve, thanks, Whit the dellorto's I will ad an K&N replacement filter in the original air filter housing.
Keep you posted about the outcome, will dyno it certainly. Want to know what the modifications did.

Crash bars. I had those on my bike once. Took them off 'cause there's no way I wanted my bike to explode.
I think they exploded, it was something like that anyways.

Oo nooo, I think I already have crash bars on my bike..... those chrome tubes in front of the cilinder.... see pic on start topic.
