Spring buds run - Oz Boxerworks

Back home enjoying a cold beer. That was a great run. perfect weather the whole 4 days, great roads and excellent company. Caught up with Charlie and Bob at Thungatti. No fire ban thank god! Met Sibbo at last, all too briefly as he didn't find the campsite until the next morning. [ note to self - clearer directions or a rendezvous pub next time]

After we drained that bit of oil from the final drive Steve's bike didn't leak another drop. He gave the wheel a degrease and the dust and corners scrubbed off the rest. And the battery swapping did the trick, that plus disconnecting the parking bulbs at each end, .. and just a couple of push starts of the /7 battery tender.

Mate! I just need to improve my reading comprehension ! But it was a beaut run and some great new country , the views from Point Lookout were bloody staggering !

Me playing Robinson Crusoe .... about this time I figgered everyone but me was lost but I liked the place so much I stayed put (everyone else was 3 km down the road ).. Cool and high, moss on the ground, in fact moss everywhere.







The view from the lookout, all the way to the coast ! Bloody amazing and equally amazing is getting there on a cloudless day.

Gidday all. Bob and I are camped at the Blackman site in the Warrumbungles. It's a glorious evening, warm and still, and the campground is nearly deserted. There is also very good mobile coverage, even Vodaphone (!). We stayed an extra night at Thungatti for the quiet pleasure of it. What a lovely place. Had a long ride today in pretty good conditions - perhaps a bit more of a headwind than we prefer, but comfortable temps. The bikes are going well.

Buzz, it's a pity you couldn't make it, but we had your share of fun, ok?. For some strange reason Thungatti was empty when Bob and I turned up on the Friday night. I guess the school holiday crowd headed off to avoid the long weekend crowd, and the long weekend crowd stayed somewhere with big teevee screens so they could watch the rugby grand final. Anyway, we basically had the run of the place, the weather was very kind and there was no fire ban and lots of firewood to burn. All in all, a cracker of a weekend.

Mal of Dubbo and Steve of Orange: I'm glad the battery swapping went well. It's a shame Steve wouldn't let us pull the bike apart to find the problem - you'd think he would have jumped at the chance to have a bunch of drunks with good BMW tool kits loose. We would have fixed it in no time, maybe.

A motley crew indeed, Charlie! Sorry I couldn't make it down. My son got stranded in the LA airport and finally made it home on Sunday. I certainly couldn't miss the return of the prodigal son. Looks like everyone was happy and well fed. Looking forward to the next gathering.

Yep, a damn pity you weren't there, She'llbe. You would have enjoyed the extraordinary lies and bullshit, the forbidden topics of conversation that were vented, like 'men's health', the political landscape and religion, etc.

I'll bet it's good to have your boy home again, and I hope the old cat survived long enough to see him. Hi to all.

The Warrumbungles campsite is a wonderful place. The dawn chorus was loud and diverse. There is room for hundreds of tents, but we have the place pretty much to ourselves. There are hot showers here - a fine thing after 4 nights of camping.

They are the ones that aren't going to be running out in front of me. I appreciate them.

I'm home again, looking at the jungle my lawn becomes in Spring.
23 days on the road, and 4700kms on some of the nicest roads and tracks. No riding in rain, apart from the first day. We didn't fall over at all and the only problems were the Acewell speedo shitting itself and having to fix some dodgy wiring, attributable to the incompetence of the CO (current owner). The $40 bicycle speedo will stay on the bike - I just need to mount it properly and organise some illumination for it.

It was great to catch up with the blokes and experience some fine hospitality. Thanks all.
Time to see if the mower will start.
