ZM ,I've had almost no success with the over the counter soft plugs of any brand .[/quote]
The ones you roll up are so soft....can you describe your problem with them?

Any and all disclaimers may apply
no success with the over the counter soft plugs of any brand
I'll jump in here with my experiences.Zombie Master wrote:

I have very narrow ear canals with a rather sharp bend to them.
In the course of 40 years of construction work, I often encountered job situations
where ear-plug use was mandatory. Often these jobs were at the auto factories ...
ear-plugs were supplied & FREE.
During this time, I tried virtually every kind and type of 'one-size-fits-all' ear plug and found that,
although some were better than others,
none fit easily, worked well, AND were painless for the duration of an 8 hour work-day.
One of three situations prevailed:
1. I could not get the plug to stay in my ear.
2. the plug would stay in place but did little to reduce noise.
3. the plug fit, stayed in place, reduced noise ... but caused PAIN over the course of time.
Criteria met:
While in Florida for bike week 15 years ago, I bought a pair of custom molded ear-plugs from Bob Weis.
I replaced this very first pair last fall with another.
The first pair cost me @ $60.00. Over the course of 14 years of service – that's $4.29 per year.

Vanzen , that's pretty well my situation ,they just don't do much to reduce noise at all .On-site I wear earmuffs ,the big plastic things and they work very well .
How good are the custom plugs at reducing turbulence noise ? I'll be trying some soon .

I am very satisfied with the molded ear-plugs:Sibbo wrote:Vanzen , that's pretty well my situation ,they just don't do much to reduce noise at all .On-site I wear earmuffs ,the big plastic things and they work very well .

1. They work well – a significant difference vs riding without or with ill fitting plugs.
2. They don't hurt my ears even after riding all day.
(one year at Bike Week, because of the Harley noise at bar closing time, I wore them all night, too)
3. They are installed into the ear quickly and easily – a twist, and they're in ! No muss, no fuss.
Certainly worth a try, IMO.

I like the attenuated plugs because I can still understand conversation when stopped in traffic and still have noise reduced below the ear damage and fatigue level when riding.
Most hearing aid stores can make molds of your ear channels and have the plugs made with the attenuators at whatever level you want.
