Is anyone familiar with, or own the Bmw Santiago Jacket, or the Tourance 2 Jacket?
wondering how they rate for safety, warmth, cooling, airflow & comfort.
I know they can be expensive, like around $900, though I've seen them for $300.

The BMW stuff is very good. But it's all about fit, and every item has it's own standard humanoid
model. I find the neck closure to be extremely important for keeping the weather where it belongs. You don't have to spend BMW money to get good gear. But you do have to do some homework and legwork to get the right stuff.

I sold a Tourance 2 recently on ebay. Excellent jacket, with some venting, good armour and a removable thermal liner. I had never used the thermal liner. The zippers were waterproof, but they had an earlier reputation for breaking. Mine were fine.
Enough pockets, without trying to do too much.
I never really used it a lot, preferring the Voyage 2 that I had. Similiar features in many respects but the Voyage 2 was a tad looser and more comfie, despite a lack of venting.
Keep an eye on ebay, even the USA ebay and you might find a bargain. Know your size before you buy. Post of a jacket from the USA is $65, but some will charge "handling" to gain that extra $10-20.
I now have a Firstgear Ranier which is cooler to ride in than the others, even with the vents closed. I'm expecting, hoping, it'll be a great summer jacket.

Steve, in your opinion, for touring Tasmania in Febuary, would the Voyager 2 be suitable? or
go for the Tourance 2? cheers Jeff.

I have two of them. The vest works great down here in Texas as long as the humidity isn't really high. In 100f temps, it cools me enough to wear a protective jacket in relative comfort. The above site has been around for a long time. Good place to buy.

Just did a four hour ride back to the Austin, Texas area, getting home around 2 p.m. Temps got to 100f.
Thanks to the cooling vest, the ride was 'no sweat'. (Pun intended).

Tasmania in February is pretty damn nice with the possibility of horrible weather

Either would be fine. Their sizing is identical, but the Tourance would be more expensive.
They both have thermal liners, but February should see Tassie warm, though maybe not 40 hot. I've never used the liners, preferring to layer up with a long sleeve thermal shirt. Less bulk that way.
The Tourance has some venting, but opening the collar on the Voyager and a loose belt also works. If you're unfaired then even better again.
Longer term, I think you'd want venting in FNQ, so the Tourance would be better.
What size are you?

good question, average size. I wear large in t-shits. The only relative jacket
to go on I have is a Large size Gondwana Ski Jacket. I'd probably go the Medium? in Bmw
size, might see if local dealer has them in, just for fitting sake.

Its mostly very warm up here , though it gets quite cool up on the Ath. Tablelands,
I would like to get some use out of it if I'm gonna buy one, more than just for Tassie.

In your climate, if they're your only choices then I'd get the Tourance, but there are many other jackets out there to choose from. I think I'd be looking for more venting. She'llbe has an Olympia that he rates. Look for closeouts from the USA as they come into their colder months. For me the Tourance was one size too small, and the Voyager was one size bigger than the Tourance. The looser fit made it more comfie, but if they were the same then the Tourance would've got the use..
