Now's the time for anyone to ask questions etc etc regards getting to the Alpine Rally at Brindabella on the Queens Birthday weekend......

There will be a party leaving Tallangatta @ aprox 9:45 - 10:00 Saturday
Heading to....Tintaldra, Tumbarumba, Tumut, Brindabella.

Any lurkers out there, you have a week to prepare for an excellent rally at Brindabella, and good company to help you find your way there.
Firewood supplied, plenty of areas to camp, a great little mountain stream for entre' brown trout and the bullshit will flow faster than the stream.

Doug, not sure how many will meet at Tallangatta on saturday, will you be amongst us or will you be doing a friday departure?

Preparations are underway. Canberra weather forecast is looking promising - by Friday it's back to frosty nights and sunny days.

Hans is arriving at Bethanga on Thursday arvo for a sleepover and we are planning to head off on Friday morning - definitely have to be on the road by 11am at the latest (earlier preferred) to get there and set up in comfort. Travelling via Jingellic, Tumbarumba, Tumut, Brindabella.

Doug, you will be very welcome to travel with us if that timing suits. Give me a call if so.

That's the spirit, Doug. Earlier would be better, though - time for a nice cup of coffee and last check before departure. 10am would be even better if you can manage it. It's a long ride and will be bloody cold by 4pm.

I did a bit of googling and came across this on ADV http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthre ... p=18706017
Apparently the valley suffered in the March rains - a lot of flood damage to river banks and fencing. It appears that the rally site is still usable.

I had Neil's (rally site property owner) phone number in my riding coat pocket for ages.
I really shouldn't have thrown it away, should I.
Oh well.
Nothing like an adventure into the unknown.

Weather is indeed looking promising over QB w/end - esp given what we're copping ATM (ie 8*C, howling gales & icy rain).
I've decided on a slight change in traveling plans... I believe I'll be heading up to Wodonga Friday, staying over at a mate's, then hopefully meeting up w Jeff (and any other Alb/Wod riders) and heading up on Saturday morning. (I'll call you, Jeff.)
The way the weather is blowing through there could be some white stuff lying around - to add to the excitement...
