Yes, it was a great weekend, many thanks to all involved.
Lovely campsite beside the creek.

Indeed a chilled weekend with nothing in particular to do, and certainly not in any great hurry.
In fact I got so relaxed, I forgot to go home.
A very pretty area is the Walnuts, with green grass! Fancy that, it's as dry as a bloody bone here at home.

I didn't do any better than Charlie in the photo dept.

Thanks again for the fantastic w/end of 'cycling, camping, eating, drinkin, bullshitting, and a little fishing (well, at least, I lost a lure, and Jeff says he caught a trout/minnow cross ).
Pretty good effort that everyone got up there Friday night. Particularly so by Bob (from Narooma) and Tom (from Melbourne).
My run up there was largely uneventful (slightly wetted by thundershower at Yakandanda) but otherwise just a bunch of (slightly warm) fun. Apparently both Bob and Tom copped a wetting on the way down/up too (well, twice for Tom).
The Walnuts hold a special place in my personal history - I actually met Tom there about 30 years ago...

On the Saturday we took a nice squirt up to see Dartmouth Dam. It's pretty full (about 96%, I think), which is a nice change since it was down to below 10% not all that long ago (maybe a couple of years)... and it holds a shite load of water, which is of particularly high value to downstream farmers.


From there we shot down to Eskdale pub...


For a nice lunch and a couple of beers...


Then it was back to the Walnuts for, err, more drinks and a bite to eat...

On Sunday we split up. Jeff and Tom headed back to Albury/Melbourne while Charlie, Bob and myself followed the Omeo Highway down to Anglers Rest and the Blue Duck Inn for a few very nice/cold ales...

We camped o/night across the road from the pub. Another fantastic camping site.
That night Bob and I decided to have a crack at the Barry Way. I've been meaning to do it for years but the opportunity hadn't presented itself. Now it looked like a real goer... except...
I was shaken awake from an unsettled sleep by a badly rumbling stomach... off to the dunny... hmmm, not good...
I still considered the trip up north, but before long realised it wouldn't be too much fun... So, decided to head back to 'civilisation' with Charlie... Glad I did. Got back to Wodonga that arvo and stayed at a mate's place o/night and recovered sufficiently to head (directly) home on Tuesday.
Despite the last minute hiccup (gut rumble) the w/end was another beauty, with fine company, magnificent scenery and fun roads. Thanks guys... Looking forward to Wee Jasper...

Now, just how much of that crick water did you drink?
I stopped drinking water from streams about ten years ago after seeing a dead cow hung up in flood debris while out trout fishging.
The Barry Way would have been a dry, dusty run at the mo' anyway. Better in autumn or spring.
