Its a strange quirk of nature to see them still being churned out. I am also an ex-SR500 owner. It was kinda fun and had character but really they are over-rated. Too much vibration to travel far and, apart from a bit of mid-range urge, not much poke at all. Some old 250s would be a better ride I reckon.
Maybe this fuel injected 400 is an improvement?

The EFI would help a lot. The bike that came after the XT 500, the XT 550 was very good and pretty quick if ridden hard but the appearance didn't sell it and never took off. I wouldn't mind one , no vibs, light and good handling.

You mean more torque or different big ends ? The 550 engine is interchangeable with the XT 600 engine, the bike is just lighter and less bulky.

I've been looking for that part, I had one here but it seems to have changed from original specification.
