I like the idea of leaving the left side lock nut loose and adjusting that side while going down a lonely road. I don't know if it would stay in place without tightening it down. Duane?
Or get one of those over-size thumb wheel nuts and replace the lock nut with it?

Re: Throttle cable Replacement
I don't leave it loose. I rotate the nut by hand and it never moves. If someone makes a thumb wheel, that is good too. It won't allow the rubber boot to be slid back down over the adjustment nut. Notice that very tight fit on the carb top? That is to seal air out from getting into the slide chamber. Often, the boot is gone and they run just fine, so they aren't necessary. I cut the part off that makes it tight. Now it still keep water out, but won't seal out the air, which doesn't matter. It keeps out water though.

I took a box end 10 mm wrench, cut the handle to a nub, then slotted the box just enough to slip over the cable and leave it positioned on the locknut to do on-the-fly adjustments.

Great idea, thanks for sharing it. I like that one. Mine never came loose when I just tightened the nut by hand, but it easily could and most would want it a bit tighter than finger tight.Norm T R100T R1150RT wrote:I took a box end 10 mm wrench, cut the handle to a nub, then slotted the box just enough to slip over the cable and leave it positioned on the locknut to do on-the-fly adjustments.

Maybe, they were tighter than you thought Duane. Did you tighten them, or did Diane?Duane Ausherman wrote:

I suspect that she gets paid to grab nuts by hand and I doubt that she tightens up much at all, but of course I can't ask her.ME 109 wrote:Maybe, they were tighter than you thought Duane. Did you tighten them, or did Diane?Duane Ausherman wrote:
