The "Quick Sale - Cheap Price" listed amount on the advert was $1350.00, I accepted this without hesitation after a chat on the phone and without seeing any photos which were forwarded to me a couple of days later.
Now I have to admit $1350 is kinda lowwwwwwwwwwwwww.......... no wonder you jumped ! ;)

Gidday Fellas,

Well at 7.30 this morning the "Bikes Only Transport" truck had this sitting in my driveway, I walked out and met the driver and signed the paperwork... "she's an oldie and you know we shipped lots of these old beemers around the country everywhere, enjoy it and seeyalater" and off he went to his next drop off.

Looking good, Grant. Well done.
And a proper naked bike is a fine addition for your collection.

There are times when naked is the only way to go.

Interesting that an '81 has a drum brake. Wonder how that came to be?

The RS & RT had the disc. Even the CS had the drum I think.

Gidday,

We started off like this today on this lovely Sunday morning..

Image

Then I removed the tank and not a wire or cable out of place the I cold tell, yes it was dusty but all looked very original still and neatly laid out etc with no corrosion on any wires to be found or any brittle wires, which was unlike the red RS I brought..
Also when I went to remove the seat from off the bike, it still had the two tiny circlips attached to the pins, never seen them before on a bike as they are a pita and fiddly plus the seat hinges still have the rubber/plastic wrapping attached to the inner curves, I don't think the seat has been off the bike before..

Image

The headlight was then removed and again, perfect original condition, neatly packed with what looked original label on the loom.

So its looking like this after a couple of hours and I am now going to start treating the surface rust on the frame by brushing the areas with RustBuster then leave to sit for a few days while it kills the rust, this I used on the old 1928 Chevy and it is simple and works a treat http://www.bondall.com/rustbuster/Ranex_Rustbuster.html

I'll just keep chipping away at this over winter..

Sounds like you got a NICE find!
Unmolested is worth a $1000 alone!

Yeah, those seat hinge pins/clips were the only way I knew, thanks to my '79 R65.

Then I got a /2.... :D

Gidday fellas

More work done today and all appears well, drive spline looks in great shape, all oils dropped out and were clean etc.
Parts going off to the hydroblasters this week like I had the RS done so that will tidy up things...
Will keep chipping away at it..
