Melville, I have a right side muffler you could have for the cost of shipping if you'd like. It's in primo condition other than a small rash on the outside rear where it ground on the road after I was boldly knocked off the bike by a woman in a Mercedes. Let me know if you want it.

Thanks for the thought, Chuey! But I think I'm good to go here, as the muffler expenditure is approved. Today I scored a fine Hein Gericke textile jacket from an older gentleman who is hanging up his helmet. Saved enough $$ that Mrs. melville is granting me much leeway in several areas. Also, my MC contract does not permit rash.

I don't recall this Mercedes incident--recent?

I'm in the middle of mounting the headpipes right now, taking a break while my Ring Of Fire beans are coming to a boil. Today's eclipse is coming right close to us, and we thought we'd make some appropriate cuisine.

I then filled the floatbowls and pushed the starter button. It appears I'll be needing a battery. Not sure why--it only sat a year and a half mit the parking lights on......

So I pulled the Kombi over and got the jumper cables out. Turned over much better and I heard a coupla pops, but insufficient fuel and battery for a full VROOM. Next week, I'll have a fresh battery and fuel in the tank, and I'll expect a bit more.

But I'm really looking forward to giving them their next round of patina.

Wipe them really clean with alcohol or the like before firing it up, or any fingerprints will rapidly turn brown. Don't ask me how I know!

Stay away from alcohol.
It's the devil's drink.

You want me to wipe down my brand new OEM headers with Pepsi before firing it up for the first time?

Will that produce a unique patina?

Yes, you'll get a nice caramel color (for a short time) which will look like Stainless.
They'll look sweet!
