Did y'all read the whole sigh, or was I the only one that found it funny?

I still giggle every time I think about that sign.

I was camping near Banff Alberta a few years ago, on the Spray lakes. Incredible place. Very rugged high mountains. I woke up and peered out to see what the day was like, and spotted a full sized Griz a few hundred yards away, which means I was his if he so desired. They run faster than a race horse. There I was zipped up in my sleeping bag like a sandwich in a baggie. I was really scared, so I slowly and quietly unzipped my bag, found my bike key and still naked, turned down the fuel petcock, engaged the choke, and put the key in the switch. I was ready to ride away naked! I slowly got dressed and into my riding gear even though I hadn't packed up my camping equipment. The Silverback just ignored me as I got ready to escape. It could have been ugly, but I left enthralled.

A lucky escape. I've seen some teevee documentaries on North American bears. Fearsome creatures, and clever too. Nothing like that in Oz, apart from the aforementioned australians, who can be a little unpredictable when cornered in the wild.

O, and I had better pick up on the obvious - "It could have been ugly ...". Just got a picture of ZM, naked except for usual headgear, being chased by a grizzly. Grin.

About the only possible comparison in Oz is sleeping beside a river in the North of the country ...saltwater crocs can be every bit as dangerous as grizzlies I'd say .I've seen some beauties in the wild ...I wouldn't like to have them after me .

Ah, of course. I was forgetting about our wonderful salties. They have a particular liking for german tourists, I believe. I've also heard that it is advisable to take a dog with you if you wish to swim. I have yet to make it up to the Northern Territory. Everything down south seems so benign.

I spent a few years on Cape York ,salties were everywhere , literally as we lived next to the croc farm and used to go out occasionally collecting croc eggs .It was the scariest thing I've ever done ....momma is 14 foot and just might be unhappy when she finds someone stealing here babies ( still in the shell ).\

The aborigine kids used to swim in the river with a dozen 10 foot crocs lying on a sandbar 20 m away .One of the kids would sit there watching and if one of the crocs slipped into the water , up went the shout .We'd call him the cockatoo .

thanks for the food for thought guys..,and the laughs!!, theres a couple of tents there
I like the design of. My tent use will be both quick overnighters and also
at times 2/3 days in one spot, so I think a 2/3 man would be the practical choice.

Actually this one is sometimes described as a 2/3 size , by big blokes any way .
