With the exchange rate at the moment, I am about to buy a top of the range Ohlins from the US for the 80G/S. (BM317)
After discovering that my old Koni could not be rebuilt, I looked at local prices for shocks and it was pretty dissapointing. Then I started looking globally, Wilbers, Ohlins, WP, etc,
Touratech australia (not exactly the cheapest place to compare prices with
) currently list this shock I am getting at Aus$1,685.30.
http://www.touratech.com.au/home/16-r80 ... e.tpl.html
With my latest quote, and the one I will be going with, this same shock will be arriving at my door (incl US$99 postage) from the US for less than Aus$770.
Ok, its still a lot of money, but not all that much more than buying a base/mid level shock here in Aus.
I am not much of a currency trader...
all I know is, if the Oz dollar keeps rising above parity with the US, after I have purchased this shock, then I won't mind all that much. If we fall below parity again, before I by some of these things I need, I will be annoyed.
So, group buy Peter?

Do they sell a set for the twin shocks Hans? I might be interested in a group thing, especially if there's a discount involved.
My Koni's would then be up for sale, with a rebuild kit.
Our $ is doin' good just now.

Re: How much does you bike owe you???
PM on the way for contact details Steve. I am pretty sure there are some Ohlins shocks you can get for twin shocks. At least I have seen them on some fancy airhead builds.
I have to hand Krista back her laptop now, but when I get a chance later I will look into it.
ooh, hang on, a quick google revealed this thread

yep, definitely got options for the twin shockers.
P.S. any other oz members interested in burning a small hole in their wallet and getting some- let me know. I am in no huge rush to get these... unless the dollar starts dropping. Will aim to order within the next week or two.

Not yet mate , I've been chasing a few dollars around the room and when I catch them I'll try to work out a use for them .Right now I'm spending my dollars on tiles ,water seal and grout for the bathroom !
I might need the address of the vendor of your shocker though .

HOW MUCH !?!? (Yorkshire War Cry).
Sibbo really !! Who needs a bathroom ?
Gentlemen ...
At prices like this, for a sprung piston squirting fluid through a little hole, how long does it take before we go the DIY route ?
What part of the component fails, and what can be done about it ...
Or is this a shopping forum ?
Sunbeem. (Fiscal sphincter clenched), in Bentham.

Sunbeem ,a golden opportunity to start DIY shocker rebuild thread ........ in which I will be intensely interested !
Bathrooms ? I haven't got one ! I haven't had one in the house for 30 years , always down in the wash house down the garden .In my dotage I've decided to finally have one inside ,a nice middle class tiled shower and a new composting dunny .
and yes , my fiscal sphincter is knotted .

Just went for my first second ride this season.
My bike doesn't owe me anything.

I owe everything to my BMW bikes, as they have treated me very well. Especially as I practiced working on them at the expense of others.
I spent a lot of time working with some good mechanical items and really good people........... mostly.
